WPCC NOVELLA
As a little girl growing up in Portland, Oregon Trenda was introduced to coffee pretty early on, what’s bean juice without life? What’s life without bean juice? The truth about Portlanders is we sleep upright with a 12 oz latte in each hand every night to truly keep the spirit of coffee well and alive. You can’t mess with people who double fist even in their sleep. Let’s picture it, around the fire with her grandpa on a camping trip grandpa asked if she wanted to try his coffee. Now any other 12 year old would think understandably Folgers coffee was ass and for the most part she did too. When grandpa was done laughing he sugared and creamed it all up. From then on it was a beautiful journey of figuring out what decent, good and even great coffee tasted like. Not sugar milk, never sugar milk but real and true coffee. At 15 Dad asks what she feels like doing with her life? “Hmm owning my own coffee shop someday would be cool.” She spent all of her teen years and half the 20’s as a barista while working on her career in hair. At 24 she took a fateful trip to the Havasupi Falls in Arizona. That trip inspired and pulled her to start a grand adventure of moving to Phoenix Arizona, alone. 2 weeks in she met the love of her life through mutual friends and on a hike no less. What’s more Arizona than that? The one true Arizona boii, Erik James. At least to her he was. 1 year in they took a trip to New York and somewhere in Downtown Manhattan they saw a small hair studio. He asked her if she would ever want to own her own salon. She told him nah but a coffee shop? One day that could be her reality… maybe. He instantly gave and has continued to give his full support and encouragement. 6 years later she started feeling that pull, that need for change, the need to push yourself and take a leap you’re not entire sure where you’ll land but know without a doubt it’s the right choice for you. They started looking for spaces to build out a shop. Yep build it out. 1 year later the build started, 9 months after that the doors were ready to be walked through by none other than you sweet reader. Through her journey of falling in love with coffee, falling in love with Arizona, her Arizona boii and keeping the love of her roots alive, Wild Pine was born. It’s a little emo in here, definitely vibey with the stardust and aliens, quirky, caring, book infested with a slight hint of retro victorian. Wild Pine is a place of love, spice and soul. That 15 year old girls small dream became a big reality and to be quite honest she still has a hard time believing that sweet little fact. The space has her entire heart in it and from the very bottom of that same space she hopes you find at Wild Pine peace, connection; new and old and last but never least of course some high quality bean juice.
